A birth chart analysis is a full walk-through of your kundli. It explains what each planet and house means, which combinations (yogas) are present, and how the chart reads as a whole.
Your chart is prepared in advance. The astrologer explains it in steps, pausing for your questions. Most clients prefer to focus on two or three life areas rather than everything at once.
Date, exact time and place of birth. Mumbai-born clients can check a hospital record. If unsure, see Birth Time Rectification.
A verbal reading. For a detailed written version, see Horoscope Reports.
Helpful for: self-understanding, family tradition and planning discussions. Limits: it cannot determine specific events with certainty. Free computer reports are not interpretations.
Many families in Mumbai already own a kundli. It may be a folded printout from a relative, a neat booklet from a priest, or a PDF from a free website. The difficulty is rarely the lack of a chart. It is that nobody has explained it. A kundli reading in Mumbai is, at its best, a patient walk through that chart, so that the symbols turn into themes you can actually recognise.
A birth chart analysis at Sansthaan is a full walk-through of your janam kundli. We explain what each planet and house means, which classical combinations called yogas are present, and how the chart reads as a whole. We offer it as traditional guidance and reflection, never as a guarantee, and we hold it online by phone or video for people in Mumbai, Thane and the suburbs.
Your birth chart is a picture of the sky at the place and moment you were born. Nine grahas, twelve signs and twelve houses are arranged around the ascendant, and the meaning lies in how they relate to one another. No single planet tells the story. A birth chart analysis reads the arrangement as a whole, the way one reads a paragraph rather than a single word.
This is what separates an interpretation from a computer printout. Software can place planets accurately, but deciding which placements deserve attention for your life, and how strongly, is a matter of judgement. In our sessions, that judgement is explained step by step so that you can follow the reasoning and question it freely.
The Lagna chart, also called D1 or the rashi chart, is the main chart. It is drawn from the ascendant, the sign rising on the eastern horizon at birth, and it sets out the twelve houses, each linked traditionally to an area of life such as self, family, education, work, partnership and gains. Everything else in the reading is built on it.
We begin here because the ascendant decides which planet rules which house. A planet may be gentle in one chart and demanding in another purely because of the houses it rules. Understanding the houses first makes the later discussion of yogas, periods and relationships far easier to follow, even if you have never studied astrology before.
Each graha is read for its condition. Traditionally a planet may be exalted, debilitated, in its own sign, retrograde or combust, meaning close to the Sun. These states describe how freely a planet is believed to express itself. A debilitated planet is not a doom sign, because the rest of the chart can support or soften it.
Yogas are combinations of planets described in classical texts, some regarded as supportive and others as demanding. Their effects depend on the strength of the planets involved and on the wider chart, which is why a yoga seen in a free report should not be taken at face value. We explain which ones are present, how much weight they deserve, and where texts and schools differ.
The Navamsa, or D9, divides each sign into nine parts and is traditionally read alongside the main chart for marriage and for inner strength. A planet that looks modest in D1 but well placed in D9 is often considered to carry more promise than it first appears. For this reason, a serious kundli reading does not stop at the Lagna chart.
There are many other divisional charts, each looking at a specific area in finer detail. We mention them only where they bear on your questions, rather than listing them all. A dedicated page on divisional charts will follow. Their accuracy depends heavily on birth time, which is why we check that detail at the start.
Once the structure is clear, we turn to the themes you care about. These usually include family and home, education, work, relationships and money. We look at the relevant houses, their lords and the planets influencing them, and we describe what the tradition says about tendencies in each area, using ordinary language and everyday examples.
Most clients find it more helpful to focus on two or three areas than to cover everything at once. A first reading is a good time to decide which matters are most pressing. Later conversations, such as career astrology or marriage guidance, can then go deeper on a single area without repeating the groundwork.
Every full reading includes a short sketch of your planetary periods. The most commonly used system is the Vimshottari dasha, a cycle of 120 years based on the Moon's nakshatra at birth. Knowing which Mahadasha you are in helps explain why certain themes feel prominent in this phase of life.
Here we only outline the timeline, so that the reading stays balanced. If the question of timing is the heart of your visit, a dedicated dasha and transit session gives it the space it needs. Think of the birth chart analysis as the foundation and the dasha session as a closer study of the present chapter.
Your chart is prepared in advance. During the call, the astrologer explains it in stages and pauses for your questions, so you are never rushed. Sessions are online, by phone or video, in English, Hindi or Marathi. You may invite a parent or spouse to listen along, which can be helpful when the chart is being read for the family.
Please keep your date, exact time and place of birth ready. In Mumbai, many people can check a hospital record or birth certificate for the time. Even a few minutes can matter, because the ascendant changes sign roughly every two hours. If you are unsure of the time, ask us about birth time rectification before the reading.
A kundli reading can support self-understanding, family discussion and calmer planning. It helps many people name strengths they have not valued and see that a difficult year may belong to a wider cycle. It is guidance for reflection, not a verdict, and it cannot determine specific events with certainty.
The session itself is a verbal reading. If you would like a detailed document to keep, a written horoscope report is available separately and can be discussed on a follow-up call. We would also remind you that free computer reports are not interpretations, and that no chart should replace professional medical, legal or financial advice.
Not exactly. The Lagna chart is the main chart, drawn from the ascendant. A kundli normally includes several charts, such as Navamsa, along with tables of planetary positions and periods.
The birth chart itself does not change, because it records the sky at your birth. What changes over time are your running dasha periods and the transits of planets across the chart, which is why readings are revisited.
A free kundli gives calculated positions and generic text. A kundli reading is an interpretation: an astrologer weighs the placements together, links them to your questions and explains the reasoning in plain language.
Your date, exact time and place of birth. A hospital record or birth certificate is the most reliable source for the time. If you have an older kundli, keep it handy so that we can compare.
Tell us before the session. A small difference can change the ascendant and divisional charts. Birth time rectification compares life events with the chart to narrow the likely time, and we will explain its limits honestly.
The Navamsa, or D9, is traditionally read for marriage and inner strength, and it is checked alongside the main chart to judge how promising a planet is. It is one part of the reading, not a separate prediction.
No. A birth chart analysis describes tendencies and phases in the tradition's language. It cannot determine specific events with certainty, and it should be used for reflection alongside facts and professional advice.
Yes. Share the birth details of the person concerned. For a child, a written report may be especially helpful, as it can be kept and revisited as the child grows.
The reading is paced by your questions. We prefer to focus on two or three life areas rather than rush through everything, and we pause often. You can always book a follow-up for other areas.
Only if you ask. The session is mainly about understanding the chart. If a traditional practice seems relevant, we mention it as an optional suggestion, with no pressure and nothing costly pushed.
