If your family is rooted in Mumbai or Thane and you live overseas, you can consult by phone or video across time zones. This page explains the points that differ for NRI clients.
Video or phone. For a document, see Horoscope Reports.
Birth details, current city and time zone, and your questions.
A reading in the same format as for any online client.
Same as for all services: astrology is interpretive, and there are no guarantees. Please follow the immigration, legal and financial rules of your country.
Living abroad does not loosen the pull of home. Many Indians overseas still look to the family kundli when a wedding is being planned, when a child is born, or when a move to another country raises questions about timing. Often the elders who hold the family's traditions are in Mumbai or Thane, while the person asking the question is several time zones away. An NRI astrology consultation online is meant to bring both ends of that conversation together.
At Sansthaan we hold consultations by phone or video, so distance does not stand in the way. This page explains the points that are particular to NRIs and OCIs: scheduling across time zones, which birth place to use, how Panchang dates change by location, and how relatives back home can take part. As always, astrology is offered as traditional guidance and reflection, never a guarantee. You are free to bring as much or as little of your family into the conversation as you like.
This service is for NRIs and OCIs who would like a reading of their own chart, or help with a family event taking place in India. It also suits parents in Mumbai and Thane who are consulting on behalf of children settled abroad, and couples planning a wedding with families in two countries.
Some people come with a single question, such as the right season to begin a ceremony. Others want a general understanding of their chart after years of putting it off. Either approach is welcome, and you decide how much of the conversation you want family to hear.
If you are an OCI or a person of Indian origin who has never had a chart prepared, that is perfectly fine. We start from the basics, explain the terms in plain language, and move at whatever pace feels comfortable for you and whichever relatives are listening in.
Sessions are held by phone or video, and by default we schedule in Indian Standard Time. When you write to us, please share your current city and time zone so that the proposed slot is easy to convert. A session that falls in the afternoon in Mumbai can be late evening in Singapore or early morning in California, so it helps to check both clocks before confirming.
Consultations are available in English, Hindi or Marathi, whichever you and your family find most comfortable. If your parents in Thane would like to join from home while you dial in from another country, that can usually be arranged on a single call, so that everyone hears the same explanation at the same time.
A stable connection and a quiet room help more than any special equipment. If video is unreliable, we can switch to a phone call and continue from where we left off, and the reading remains the same either way, since the calculations do not depend on the medium.
A Vedic chart is cast for the place where you were born, not where you live now. If you were born in Mumbai, Thane or anywhere else in India, that is the place we use, together with the time recorded on your birth certificate or hospital record. This stays the same however many times you have moved since.
Your present location matters for a different purpose, which is the timing of Panchang-based events and some transits as they are observed where you are. If the birth time is uncertain, please tell us openly. Traditional methods exist for working around it, and we explain how they are used and where their limits lie.
Some families are unsure of the place of birth because a child was born in a hospital in a different town from where the family lived. In that case, use the place named in the birth record, and tell us if the two differ, so we can discuss which is appropriate before we prepare the chart.
Tithi, nakshatra and the timing of festivals depend on sunrise and moonrise at a specific place, so the dates observed in Mumbai may differ from those at your home overseas. For this reason a festival that one family marks on a given day may fall a day earlier or later for relatives elsewhere.
When you ask, we calculate the Panchang for the place where the ceremony or observance will actually happen. That helps if you are planning a griha pravesh, a naming ceremony or a family puja abroad. Traditions and local temples sometimes follow different conventions, so we explain our reasoning and leave the final choice to you.
This is also worth knowing for observances such as an annual shraddha or a vrat, where the tithi at a specific time of day can decide the date. We prefer to explain the method openly, and to note where families or priests follow a different convention, so you can choose with confidence.
Many NRI families hold weddings, thread ceremonies and housewarmings in India, where relatives do most of the arrangements. Choosing a muhurat is easier when someone is available to talk it through, and we can coordinate with relatives in Mumbai or Thane so that the date works for the people travelling and the people hosting.
A muhurat is a traditional choice of a favourable time, and it sits alongside practical limits such as flight schedules, school holidays and venue availability. We help you weigh these together without pressure. If the ideal window is not possible, we say so plainly and look for the next sensible option.
Questions about relocating, a change of country, or a long-term plan to settle abroad are common among NRI clients. A chart can be read for themes of movement and timing, and the dasha running for you gives a background to reflect on. We cover this in more detail under Foreign Settlement Astrology.
Please treat any such reading as one input among many. Visa, immigration, tax and employment decisions follow the rules of your country and should be taken with qualified advisers. Astrology cannot replace them, and we will always encourage you to follow the laws and procedures that apply to you.
To prepare, we ask for your date, time and place of birth, your current city and time zone, and the questions that matter most to you. If you are consulting for a family event, add the proposed month, the place of the ceremony and the names of the family members who will attend.
Having these details in advance means we can prepare the chart before we speak, so the conversation is spent on understanding rather than calculation. You may also like to keep a notebook ready. For a written record, a Horoscope Report is available separately, and our Online Astrology Consultation page explains the general format.
After a reading, we may mention a few simple traditional practices, such as a mantra, a day of giving or a short daily prayer. These are optional customs that many families find steadying, and you can follow them wherever you live. Nothing is required, and nothing costly is pushed.
For those who wish to arrange a puja in India, a priest in Mumbai or Thane may perform it where available, while you join online. This allows family overseas to take part from a distance. Please see Puja and Vedic Remedies for details. Remedies are a matter of faith, not a guaranteed outcome.
Many of our NRI consultations begin with a parent in Mumbai or Thane who would like to understand a son or daughter's chart from home. This is possible with the birth details, and it is usually most useful when the young person agrees to the conversation and, ideally, joins for part of it.
We encourage openness within the family. A chart is a reflective tool, and it works best when it supports a respectful discussion between generations, not when it is used to pressure anyone. We keep our language calm, avoid alarming statements, and remind everyone that decisions belong to the person concerned.
Where available, a priest in Mumbai or Thane may perform the puja while you join online. This lets NRI families take part from abroad. Please see our Puja and Vedic Remedies page. Pujas are optional and are a matter of faith, not a guaranteed outcome.
